Non-Invasive MRI-Guided HIFU for Breast Cancer Therapy - Dennis Parker hifu breast cancer

HIFU guided by US offers real-time visualisation of the treated for the treatment of benign breast lesions and not breast cancer.

Current treatment options for breast cancer include combinations of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy or targeted drug.

Ten patients with early-stage breast cancer with a maximum diameter of 3 cm will undergo MR-HIFU ablation, followed by MRI and surgical resection to evaluate.

HIFU has been used previously for breast cancer treatment, but its success rate varies widely, from 20 to 100%, depending upon factors.

The target lesions of 25 breast cancer patients treated by HIFU were observed after autopsy. One slide was used for hematoxylin-eosin (HE).
